This means that certain programmes do not recognise that I have a removable device plugged into the PC. Was this reply helpful?
Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Thanks for the response. Whilst I have not had a chance to try the tool that you suggested, I am not convinced that this is the correct approach. The underlying assumption seems to be that the issue is with the USB flash drive itself, which I do not think is the case.
In fact, I have the same problem for the 3 flash drives that I tried on both the PC and laptop. Thank you for the additional information. Nothing on the site where I bought them or on the packaging indicated they were for Win8 or otherwise. Thanks for emailing SanDisk Technical Support.
It is our goal to make sure you have all the resources you need to get the most from your product. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please be informed that the flash drives are the plug and play storage devices. You can log in using your email address as your login and the password that you created. They can confirm the sale on their register systems.

Reasons to convert USB Drive to a Local Disk: Scenario 1 : Sometimes it is required to use your USB drive as a local disk to install an operating system or if you are running out of memory maybe because there are large files of programs saved in your local disk.
There are various ways to convert a USB flash drive as the local disk; here I am listing one of the best and most convenient methods of converting USB to a local drive: Note : Before performing these steps make sure you create a backup of your flash drive data else, you may lose your files. Make sure that your USB drivers are updated and installed. Sometimes you may need to format the drive to avoid any kind of errors. But don't forget to create a backup before you format the USB drive.
Unfortunately, if you forgot to create a backup of any of the files and lost them in formatting, you can use an efficient flash drive recovery software to restore lost files You can download the zip file here.
Note : Make sure you are logged in as an administrator Find your USB stick under the Disk drives tab and right-click then select Properties.
Then go to Hardware Tab and select the Removable disk. Click on Properties. Then open the Details tab and select Device description.
Click on the Device instance path from the list. Go ahead and again open the. Here you will insert the drive code and Save the file. Hit Save button So now we have created an updated driver for the device, so it will now read as a Local Disk.
Under disk management select the tab below saying Removable Disk. Solution for that problem would be driver loading where user would decide how to use it supported by microsoft!
So user will not be limited! But sadly ms tends to reinforce their will and we are dumb enough to let them! So why we user allow MS to decide how many performance we get on our computers and why we tolerate stupid MS limitations? The other problem is one can not upgrade memory it is already upgraded! We should all go to Linux! Every good damn Windows is hardware performance killer and we then add Chrome Browser and must be AIO security solutions then choked system is announced by it self!!!
Or you could just pick up a cheap SSD. You could try getting a USB flash drive. I just picked up a Sandisk one a couple days ago. I hope this can help you.
Ok so i may be screwed but i had to checks here. So i did the thing and it worked great until i pulled out the usb like an idiot. It wouldnt start up no matter what i did. It kept bringing me to the menus about troublshooting. I went to the cmd page and deleted the cfadisk. The boot key doesnt do anything and i dont know what to do.
Please help. I was trying hard to get it work but its not working for me for some reason. Can you please help me in this regards. Windows 10, Thought I had found THE guide for this problem. Followed it all, ended up not being able to boot Windows. So I issued the BCD commands and restarted and….
Nothing changed. Boots into the Automatic Repair prompt over and over. Investigated the BCD store, both options are active and enabled. I was however able to get it to boot by selecting Startup Options, letting it reboot, then selecting Option 7 to disable driver signing checks.
The end result was as intended with my microSD now listed as a local disk. However, this is certainly not a permanent solution as the recovery sequence would need to be repeated at every boot…. BootIt did not change any of the drives. Possibly the software no longer functions with Win10 …? However, I did have luck with other USB sticks using a combination of two tools. The first is a utility called GetFlashInfo from antspec.
Win10 Defender said there were viruses on the downloads. I went to the site and downloaded the utilities on a burner laptop connected to a cellular hotspot. The utilities worked. Running the USB sticks through various systems and malware checks, they came back clean. Your mileage may vary. Hi I have a flash memory Transcend — T3 that converted to basic disk.
Thank you. As others hwve said this guide doesnt work. At least not anymore. In my case with windows 10 it says that it cant find a file. It does not specify what kind of file, but I noticed that the cfadisk.
Is that the file Windows cant find?
